I've been thinking Randy needs a new cast (along with a lecture on not scratching inside a cast with a dirty screwdriver). What about this one?

More story to come
Hey readers of Remembered By One - I have not given up on the story, I've just been sick and while slowly getting over pneumonia (and liver and kidney failure), I moved to another province. To a place in the far north. In the middle of a horrible, never-ending winter. I believe I'm getting better and hope to be able to string some words together soon.
I've been thinking Randy needs a new cast (along with a lecture on not scratching inside a cast with a dirty screwdriver). What about this one?

Getting back at it
Hey all readers of Remembered by One,
After a ridiculously busy summer at work that continued into fall, and a bad case of exhaustion that sapped all my writing energy (not to mention energy to just get by), I'm finally back in a head space where I can work on the next chapter(s). Coming up: Some sexy times, some argumentative times, some fun times and of course some times where you just want to bash in your ex's head with a rock. Not sure how fast I'll get back into the groove, but the muse is willing, so anything's possible.

Making Room but not gone forever
Since the number of pages for Remembered by One chapters was adding up, I "unposted" the first six, assuming that everyone who wanted to read them, has. If you've been reading and need to catch up on one of the unposted chapters, send me a message here or on Facebook and I'll add it back.
Now that it's my busy season at the Evil Day Job and I'm working overtime almost every day, my plan is to post a new chapter every 2 weeks, rather than weekly. Best I can do 'cuz I'm usually a wreck at the end of the day.

New chapters coming soon
Yes, new chapters of Remembered By One are coming soon.
The Evil Day job is sucking the life out of me so I really only get to write on weekends right now. Everybody quit buying houses! Okay, go ahead, but you're keeping me far too busy. No, I'm not a realtor, I'm a legal assistant. You know that massive stack of papers that you get when you go to a lawyer to buy/sell a house? And that annoying paralegal who's always asking you embarrassing questions like, "Where is the money for that coming from?" or, "What do you mean you don't know what your full legal name is or how to spell it?" Yeah, that's me. And for some reason, people always want to move in the summer, lol. Guess it's no fun unloading the moving van in -20 weather and trudging through 2 feet of snow...
Despite the stress and overtime, the muse has been bugging me non-stop and the current chapter from Randy's POV is begging to be finished. Oh, wait, that's Mason begging... Anyway, I'm working on it. But do me a favor, if you catch me hanging out on Facebook watching cat videos or drooling over your latest post featuring hot men in various states of undress, give me hell.

Serial Story
I've been working on a 'frenemies' to lovers story with a mystery on the side, and a couple of dads who give fatherhood a bad name. It's called Remembered by One (the name will make sense in the end) and I've created a page for each chapter, and will add more if there's any interest. It's not finished, but I have a few more chapters I could post. Let me know here or on Facebook if this is your thing and I'll add 'em as I write 'em.

No Longer Available
A Thread of Deepest Black and Forever in One Second are no longer available in eBook format.
Once my rights have reverted back to me (my publisher, Samhain has closed), I will republish them on Amazon. Fortunately, I purchased the cover rights to A Thread of Deepest Black and it will have the same awesome artwork. Forever, if I decide to republish it, will get a new cover that better suits it, and the characters.
At the latest, this will be September 1, 2017, but hopefully something can be worked out earlier.

Not His Kiss to Take available on Amazon
Not His Kiss to Take is now available on Amazon if you've been looking for a copy. With so much plagiarism happening and other forms of theft of copyrighted works, I thought I'd republish it. Plus, now all my books will be together in one place (and I had several requests for it). Sorry it's no longer free, but it is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Reviews and Goodbyes
Reviews.
I’ve been thinking a lot about
them lately. Or rather, the lack of them. Outside of Goodreads, my books seldom
get reviews, which is okay, because obviously there’s no obligation for anyone
to review one of my books, especially if that book was paid for (and I usually
get trashed there anyway).
But that doesn’t mean I don’t
want them. How else would I know if anyone liked it? Do readers want a sequel?
Would they like another book set in that world? Beats me. I really have no
idea. Despite not having many books out (again, the sound of crickets does not
encourage publication), I believe my books have sold fairly well for the m/m
romance genre, which is small—I still receive cheques worth cashing.
True, I have a “unique” writer’s voice and my writing is not for everyone, but
that’s okay, there is an audience for every style and every story, which kind
of limits who wants to read my stuff as well. But if you’ve ever wondered why
there is no sequel to A Thread of Deepest Black, or As He Watches, or Stranded
by Lies, lack of reviews is the reason why. Although I am widowed with three
kids I’m raising alone, money is not a big motivator for me. I just have no
idea if anyone is interested.
I have also put out three free
books, and I loved writing all three of them. I would have put out more, but I
had no idea if anyone would read them, because, *crickets*. Plus, it costs money to have edits done and
covers made. Not His Kiss to Take cost me $600.00 to publish. So, not something
I could do with any regularity, not matter what the muse wants. As of my
writing this, Not His Kiss to Take has been downloaded from Smashwords 17,315
times, which is an average of 6-8 books a day, my rough estimate based on the little
graph. Still that many, even though it was released in December 2012.
And how many reviews does it
have?
32.
And none since 2014. This leads
me to believe that everyone who downloaded it thinks it sucks. So why would I put
out a free book again? Or any book?
Which is the point of this mini-rant—it’s
also my goodbye. And my thank you to everyone who bought A Thread of Deepest
Black, Forever in One Second or Just Lucky that Way, or who left a review
(even if they hated any of the above), and especially to those who sent me an
email or posted on Facebook, or Twitter or in a group, that they enjoyed my
story. Thank you for that. Thank you so much.
So to end this rant, I will finish
with this: If there is a writer out there whose book or story you loved, and
they are lesser known, please leave a review, no matter how short (I loved it!
Please write a sequel! Enjoyed it! – these are great reviews). This is
especially true for indie authors. The best way to keep an author writing is to
let them know you like what they write and want more. Well, that, and don’t be
a pirate. Pirating a book does not help get the next one written.
I will probably keep Just Lucky that
Way up on Amazon until my rights to Thread and Forever revert back to me…or I
may take it down tomorrow, so if you're interested in reading it, maybe get it sooner
rather than later (I really wanted to write a sequel for that one! So much more to tell). Alas...
Thanks again everyone, take care and happy
reading.

Sequels...or something new?
Although I've been crazy-busy at the evil day job and working a lot of overtime, I've been itching to start a new book (or story).
What are you in the mood for? I can and have written to order. Might do it again.
Do you want more erotica/erotic romance and kink - something like Not His Kiss to Take? If you liked that book, was it because of erotic elements or contemporary storyline? Or just Jamie's sass?
BDSM? Or a sequel to A Thread of Deepest Black?
A sequel to Just Lucky that Way? My imagined plot has Mac doing something you wouldn't believe. I can't believe it myself!
Or do you like sci-fi and want to know what the secret is in the sequel to Stranded by Lies?
I would also be happy to revisit Winter and Erik from As He Watches...
OR is there something, some trope, you'd like to read that seldom gets written? I don't do non-con or slavery, but I'm pretty open otherwise. Mmm...maybe not mpreg either...or rockstars...
So if there's something you'd like to see, speak up, otherwise I'll go amuse myself writing smutty m/f and young adult novels.
Send me an email or post here.

Just Lucky That Way Is Here
Just Lucky That Way has been published to Amazon! It takes anywhere from 12 hours to 3 days to show up on the website, but I pressed the magic "publish" button. I will be uploading it Smashwords sometime over the next week and from there it will be available at other retailers such as iTunes/iBooks. If you love buying your books at All Romance eBooks, please leave me a comment here or on Facebook, and I will see about getting publisher status there so I can upload it for sale.
Once the book is live, I will post an excerpt here (Chapter 1). Price on Amazon is $3.99US.
Fortune
smiled on Chance Ryan the day he was born and blessed him with an endless
supply of good luck. Now he uses that luck working for the Arsenal, a secret
federal organization made up of powerful psychics, including his hot, kick-ass
partner and a clairvoyant, dragon-lady of a boss with a killer hairpin.
So
with all that good fortune, why in the hell is everything suddenly going wrong?
Duncan
“Mac” MacDonnell’s prescient ability tells him his charismatic partner is in
serious trouble. When Chance shows up unexpectedly on the run from a man he
claims has no face, and bearing a magicked, two-thousand-year-old coin, Mac
finds himself unprepared for just how deep that trouble goes.
For
two years the Arsenal has been hunting an impossibly lucky thief and his stolen
cache of charmed and cursed items. The unexpected reappearance of the missing
coin thrusts Mac and Chance into a danger no psychic could have foretold, and
reveals the true nature behind a horrifying crime not even time can erase.

Just Lucky that Way is Finished!
Just Lucky that Way is finally finished and has been sent off to the editor. Whew!
It's also a full length book now, and after edits, should finish around 76,000 words. Now it's time to work on a cover - it's fun and nerve-wracking at the same time, but one of my favorite things to do.
I'm working on a blurb at the moment and will post it when it's finalized so you will at least know what it's about. I can tell you it's m/m (of course), friends to lovers, paranormal (psychics), alternate reality(ish), and easy on the sexy-times (not sweet though-hell no). So if you're looking for a lot of story, and you like the themes above, this might be the book for you!
Just Lucky that Way will be available on Amazon, followed by other retailers.

Just Lucky That Way Update
Now that my inner ear issue has resolved itself and the vertigo has gone (and good riddance), I'm back to working on my m/m paranormal novella Just Lucky That Way.
Don't have a definitive date just yet, but I'm aiming to have it out by Halloween, unless real life gives me any more grief. Kids are also going back to school soon - I've forgotten what peace and quiet is.
Will update post as I go.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Just Lucky that Way
I couldn't help myself. I have no spine. I caved.
I took a story prompt again this year.
But late. So I'm going to have to write fast to make my deadline...
The working title is Just Lucky that Way. It's going to be a contemporary, urban fantasy thriller. Well, I'm going to try with the "thriller" part, seeings how I'm a more character-driven writer. But I have plans! And a plot! And a hot man in a kilt! No BDSM this year, though, at the prompter's request. But they didn't say anything about no kink...
I'll post links and an excerpt when it's ready to go, sometime this summer.
Also hope to finish the rest of Stranded by Lies while I'm between Evil Day Jobs, and possibly, the next segment of As He Watches (but that's less likely with that pesky Real Life intruding all the time).
Any requests?

Cliffhangers and Sequels
I hate cliffhangers. Really hate them. I never stop wondering - what happened next? Did good triumph over evil? Did the boy get the boy (or girl/shifter/tentacle monster) and live happily ever after?
So I have to admit feeling a little guilty for leaving the ending for Stranded by Lies at the point I did - I had planned to finish the story after the next scene (which still would have been a cliffhanger), but due to time constraints, I decided I would rather use the rest of the time available editing what I had, rather than trying to rush through the next part, just to finish where I wanted. Sadly, I am a novel writer, not a short story writer (yes, even though Lies is 45,000 words, for me, that's a short story) and my ideas always seem to grow the more I write. For this reason, I have decided I won't participate in the Don't Write in the Closet event again next year. Actually, I have decided not to write anymore, period.
That said, I was wondering if anyone would like me to finish Stranded by Lies? (or hey, possibly even As he Watches) Let me know, as I might dust off my keyboard once again. I'm not sure when it would be ready, or how I would make it available, but I'd likely combine the two parts and publish it on Smashwords. Free, of course.
If you're interested, let me know - you can leave a comment, send me an email to finnmarlowe@yahoo.ca, or find me on Facebook or Goodreads.
